. Power, Authority, Responsibility, Accountability, we all are familiar with these words, and these words play a significant role in the rich culture of our armed forces and this is what rank word stands for. As every rank holds its great significance in our Armed Forces. In our Armed forces Rank are not gifted you have to work for it and earn it. Today we have the world's second-largest Military Forces World with a strength of 1.4 million active persons, It makes us the world's largest Volunteer Army in world. Our Armed forces have the third-largest defense budget. Our Armed Forces come under the Ministry of defense and our President is the supreme commander of the Armed forces. While the actual control lies with the executive headed by The Prime Minister Of India. The Officers in the Armed Forces are Commissioned by The President Of India.
" RANK NEVER RETIRES OFFICER DOES"most of us have heard this line and this is what I am trying to convey. The Rank holder always holds a rank which is given by the supreme commanders of all the three forces ( ARMY, NAVY, AIR FORCE).
The life of every soldier is the property of our nation.
Article 18 (Abolition of titles, No title, not being a military or academic distinction, shall be conferred by the State No citizen of India shall accept any title from any foreign State No person who is not a citizen of India shall, while he holds any office of profit or trust under the State, accept without the consent of the President any title from any foreign State No person holding any office of profit or trust under the State shall, without the consent of the President, accept any present, emolument, or office of any kind from or under any foreign State Right to Freedom)
Article 18 of our constitution give the right to the defense personal to hold their rank even after retirement from the armed forces. So they can hold their rank even after retirement. It makes them proud and gives them a feeling that yes they have done something for their motherland. The main tasks of the Armed Forces
1. To assert the territorial integrity of India
2. To defend our country from a foreign nation.
3. To support the civil community in case of any disaster ( flood ) or in an emergency
4. To participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations( India is the second-largest troop contributor with 7,676 personal deployed)
It is well said that " ONCE A SOLDIER...ALWAYS A SOLDIER" as we have 1,567,390 ex-servicemen registered with the Indian Army till 2010
When a soldier stands on the borders of our nations spends sleepless nights and days to save us save our motherland. He doesn't even know whether he will be able to see his children again whether he will be able to talk to them again...still he stands on our boarders with a smile on his face. So every soldier of our nation is a Real Hero...
Our Armed Forces truly follow the motto " SERVICE BEFORE SELF"JAI HIND...
