Berets are the standard headgear in Indian Armed Forces. Every beret that is worn by the Indian Armed forces has a unique history behind them.

Today we will be talking about a few of them. A beret is a type of cap which is made up of hand-knitted wool, crocheted cotton, or acrylic fiber. Berets are generally round, flat-crowned caps, Were used as headgear with military uniforms in European countries. Since mid 20th century Berets have become an essential component of the uniform throughout the world.

1. Maroon Beret :

The word "Maroon" reveals everything. As Maroon is something we can't get we have to earn it. It is worn by Indian frontier forces or we can say all the forces which are trained with Airborne force. The maroon color is a symbol of Airborne forces in India and in the entire world. 

2. Black Beret :

Black Beret is of the most recognized beret in India. It is specially used by the National Security Guard (NSG), Armed Core, and Indian Navy.

3. Dark Green Beret :

Dark Green Beret is also known as Rifle Green Beret. This beret is worn by Rifle Regiments of the Indian Army, Infantry Regiments, Cobra Commandos, National Security Guards (NCC), and by Light Infantry  Regiments of the Indian Armed Forces.

4. Light Green Beret :

Light Green Beret is worn by Military Intelligence. And different shades of light green are used according to the need in the Army.

5. Light Blue Beret :

Light Blue Beret is recognized all over the world as it is worn by the United Nations Peacekeeping Forces.  

6. Navy Blue Beret :

Navy Blue Beret is one of the most recognized berets in India. It is worn by the personals of Artillery, Engineers, Signals, Army Education, Indian Cost Guards, ITBP.

7. Red Beret :

Red Beret is worn by the core of Military Police.

8. Grey Beret :

Grey Beret is worn by the personals of Army Aviation Crops and by the Indian Air Force.
