Param Vir Chakra is the highest Wartime Gallantry Award. The award is for displaying ACT of VALOUR during wartime. The English translation Param Vir Chakra is "Wheel of the Ultimate Brave ",  And it is considered equivalent to THE MEDAL OF HONOR ( United States) and THE VICTORIA CROSS ( United Kingdom).

 Param Vir Chakra was implemented from 15 AUG 1947,  but officially it was implemented from 26 Jan 1950 by the first president of India Dr. Rajendra Prasad. PVC was designed by Savitri Khanolkar (w/o Major General Vikram Khanolkar). 
    Param Vir Chakra is a medal of Bronze in Circular form, With 1.375 inches of diameter. On the front side of the Medal, the state Emblem

On a raised circle surrounded by four copies of Vajra,  Which was a symbol of sacrifice as Rishi Dhaniz gave his own life while making Vajra Vajra is a weapon of Lord Indra according to Hindu Mythology. On the rear side of the medal, Param Vir Chakra has been written in Hindi and English, which is divided by a lotus flower. Along with the Medal, there are 32 millimeters of Purple color Ribbon.
    First PVC was given to Major Somnath Sharma in the year 1947, Indo - Pak war 1947-1948. PVC has been awarded 21 times till now. 20 PVCs were given to soldiers of the Indian Army and One PVC was given to Flying officer Nirmal Jit Sekhon of the Indian Air Force.

2. Maha Vir Chakra(MVC) :

Maha Vir Chakra is the Second Highest Military Decoration. It is an award for the Act of Conspicuous gallantry in the presence of the Enemy.
   Maha Vir Chakra is circular made up of Standard Silver. On its front side, we have a five-pointed Heraldic Star with a state Emblem in the center. On the Rear side of the Medal, MAHA VIR CHAKRA has been written in Hindi and English,  which is divided by two Lotus flowers. The ribbon of Maha Vir Chakra is half white and half orange in color which is 3.2cm in width.
    Maha Vir Chakra has been awarded 219 times till now to the soldiers of the Armed Forces. The last recipient of Maha Vir Chakra (Posthumous) was Colonel B. Santosh Babu, for the operation "Snow Leopard(2020)" on 26 Jan 2021.


3. VIR CHAKRA(VRC) :

Vir Chakra / VRC is the third-highest military decoration after PVC and MVC, Which was also established on 26 Jan 1950. This award is for the bravery shown on the Battlefield.
     Vir Chakra is the circular Silver medal. On the front side of the medal, we have a five-pointed Star with Chakra in the center on which the state emblem is engraved. On the rear side of the medal, VIR CHAKRA is written in Hindi and English, which is divided by two lotus flowers on both sides. The ribbon consists of two colors those are half Dark Blue and half Orange - Saffron which is about 32mm in width.
